May 2010

Saturday we had our geneaology workshop and it was a great time. All of the participants seemed to enjoy themselves.  The workshop was divided into two main sections; the morning session was an informative “how-to” with a powerpoint presentation by Bennett Green, our researcher,  followed by a yummy hot lunch.  The afternoon took the participants into the archives to do hands-on research on Wyandotte County history.  Participants utilized the microfilm machines looking at census records, city directories and newspapers.  Multiple people looked through historical books, files, photographs. etc to find any and all information on their families.

If you were not fortunate enough to attend the workshop, we hope to hold a second one in the fall.

We are back open on Saturday’s mornings for our Summer Hours! Starting today, May 8th, we will be open from 9am to 12pm. If you are looking for a free, fun Saturday activity with the kids, please come visit us and then stay in the park for a lunch picnic. What a perfect day.
