*****even though the 150th celebration has come and gone, you can still celebrate the counties history by visiting the museum and learning about where you live! Wyandotte County has a rich history, and we are here to share it with you.
150th Celebration of Wyandotte County, taking place at the Wyandotte County Park (126th & State Ave) on June 6-7!
Join the Wyandotte County Historical Museum as we commemorate Wyandotte County’s 150th Anniversary. Re-enactors, speakers, dancers and music are just part of that variety of events and activities scheduled throughout the year-long millennium celebration that recognizes our history, which began in 1859.

Sunday, June 7th
- 1850s Church Service, 10am
- Kansas Old Time Fiddlers Pickers and Singers 11am-12:45pm
- 1859 Medicine, First person re-enactor 1pm
- Gospel Choir, Our Lady & St. Rose, 2pm
- Hrvatski Obicaj (Croatian Tamburitzan), 3pm
Other events will be Hot Air balloons, Children’s Area, Food Court, Beer Garden, Blacksmith, Spinner/Weaver, Quilters, exhibition of the Wyandotte Art Association, Cow Chip Bingo, a 1850s Church Service on Sunday morning at 10am and numerous educational/organization tents.
There is something for everyone!
The event will end on Sunday at 3:30pm with the Dedication of the Oblisek, which will be a permanent monument outside of the museum.
All events will take place in the museum and the surrounding Wyandotte County Park. (126th & State Avenue) All events are free and open to the public!

I’m interested in information about the founding of the Kansas State School for the Blind and a comment made to me that the land was donated by an Indian tribe with the stipulation that it always be used to serve the blind.
